Link Pimpin' Ain't Easy

Ahh, I just got my first batch of fresh banners, straight from the Photoshop oven. You can take a peek at them here. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. In particular, I took a pass at coloring them and it was far more successful than past attempts at color. I've always shied away from color in the past, but right now it's just one more "fear" to face head on. So, I guess you can expect to see more color work coming up soon.

The new mini-story line is already formed in my head. It's odd this time around though, what with not doing the strip daily. I am used to having about 5 days to put a concise little mini-story together. Four pannels, five days. Boom. It's how my cartoonist's mind is wired.

I am currently debating between trying to wrap it up my Friday, or have it bleed into Monday, or just take it to six strips and wrap it up next Friday.

Hmmmm.

I think I am leaning towards wrapping it up into six strips and finishing it next Friday. Two weeks can be pushing it for a mini-story, but in the archives, it will be like fifty seconds of reading. And I don't thing a three strip story would really allow me to flex my creative muscle fully.

Elsewhere on the web ... GIANT ROBOT DOGS HAVE LANDED!

Well, perhaps not exactly, but as this video shows, they can't be too far off. And I must say, this is the most impressive display of robotics I've ever seen:

NOTE: Noisy video!

wow, you plan out your stories length? i just start with i know what the end is and cram as much funny as i can before i have to put the last one up. although i don't do many stories. that might have something to do with it.

awesome banners btw

Well, it's more like I have a general idea of a beginning and end gag, with some mid point gags. It's just a matter of editing them down to the best ideas. I usually have a ton of ideas and could take a story like this for two months easy, but I try to condense it down to the best ideas and keep it within a reasonable time frame so people aren't going "enough ALREADY!"

Like I said, I could easily do ten days worth, which is only two weeks on a weekday schedule, but on a thrise weekly schedule we are looking at touching upon four weeks, near a month. It's no longer a mini-story, but a mini-epic.

I do feel freer and don't feel the need to self edit as much when I am doing a daily strip.

But someday... ;)
