I Have A New Hero...

and his name is ATOMIC ROBO!

I picked up Atomic Robo as my free comic selection on Free Comic Book Day. To say I was not disappointed is an understatement. I LOVE this character! He is Spiderman's sass housed in a miniature Iron Giant with Hellboy's job. In short, he is the (pseudo) living embodiment of AWESOME! In addition, the creators have been nominated for an Eisner and I am definitely throwing my support behind them as I will be tracking down every scrap of Atomic Robo goodness I can get my hands on.

In other news, I wrapped up an impromptu live Llama Report recording last night which should get posted over the weekend. We opted to do it early, as Mother's Day weekend will be a busy one for us and it afforded us the opportunity to have an open format "call in" type show.

Which no one called in for.

So this weekend, prepare to listen to me and Cay talk to each other for about forty five minutes about weird and interesting news stories, completely unedited.

And, it seems I'm not only busy here at my site, but have been busy making the rounds on the Intrawebs their week, as evidenced by appearances by Captain Inkmerica over at Mad Scott Comic and a personal appearance by me at Newbie Shooting Range. Boy, I'm busier than I thought.

Finally, I want to wish my mother and my lovely wife a Happy Mother's Day, and hopefully all of you will do something nice for your mothers this weekend.

See you Monday!

Heck yea! And I just realized that Atomoc Robo is written by Brian Clevenger of "8 bit Theatre" fame.

My new mission at the San Jose comic convention this weekend is to get my hands on anything and everything I can that is Atomic and/or Robo!

what's the site traffic like since you came back?

I'm curious - I was an avid reader of all the old strips...

The new stuff isn't entirely to my liking, but it's growing on me, plus I think you're starting to come back into your own again material-wise. I hope you know what I mean - I'd make some reference to cleaning out the rust but it seems too overused.

Traffic is pretty wild right now. I have days where I get 8,000 visits, and days where I get 1,800. I think the site and news of my return is still new, so people seem to be wandering back in, but it will take time to see how many actually stick around.

It's all a waiting game anyway. There's not much back log for people to really get "hooked" and the strip is still finding its legs. But I am feeling more confident with each strip. Plus I'm already a strip ahead now and hope to widen that buffer even more in the coming weeks.

I'm glad the strip is growing on you. I will most likely start out a bit ... tame? But as I focus on the art and find the character's voices, things will fall into place again. I have some small gags, some mini storylines and some overreaching plot arcs in mind, so it's all a matter of pacing and letting the strip lead me at it's own pace.

I need to establish the rules before I can break them. ;)
