Eye Of The Beholder
Another (unfortunately) true story. I was actually stuck at work for over thirty minutes and couldn’t go home because I had forgotten my keys were dangling from the USB port on the side of my monitor (with a handy post it notes covering that side of the monitor).
I was stunned. My security widget is also on my key chain, so I knew I had to have had them to get in the building. I seriously considered the possibility they were stolen or someone was screwing with me.
And then I found them when I leaned over to use the phone to call my wife and tell her I’d be late.
Yea. It’s a real love/hate relationship with my USB key chain.

I don’t put my keychain ones on my keychain for this reason. Its also why I never put data I can’t lose on one.
My wife has one that’s older, but slim like a credit card. She loses it about once a month. I hide when that happens.

Yeah, I may have done something like that once or twice. I take the bus into work every day so I only notice my keys are missing once I get to the bus station and try to unlock my car. The first and only time I forgot my keys was the longest day ever.

That’s why I keep my USB drive on its own mini-lanyard (stolen from an old cell phone). If I leave it behind, no big deal, I’ll be back eventually.

I keep my thumbdrives on one of those long lanyards. I can loan them out easier, the lanyard is long enough to stick out from behind most computers, and I have so many car, house, bank, work keys that I’d put stress cracks in many USB connectors.

At least you can actually use your key-chain usb drive while it’s still on your keychain. My keys are so heavy, I’m afraid I’m gonna bend the flash drive if I let my keys hang, so I have to actually take the flash drive apart, careful not to lose the part that doesn’t attach to the key chain or the cap, and carefully insert the drive into the port so I don’t break the board. It’s not fun.

Luckily I got USB slots on the front of mine or I’d most certainly do the same.

man, my tower sits on a box about a foot off ground and i moved a pci usb slots toward the front. but unfortunately i like to spin in my seat, so i kicked it on accident, and they broke. so know i have to use an extention usb and a 1.1 card in the back. and i stopped carrying mine on my keys, i have it on a lanyard that i loop around my belt loop

Funny – that’s why I *put* my flashdrive on my keys in the first place – so I wouldn’t leave my flashdrive in the computer when I packed up and went home!

Is that one of those new-fangled wireless monitors?
