Yarrr! Prepare Ta Be Stacked!
Oh, what an exciting day for a Lego lover. As me and the family strolled the mall yesterday, we wandered into (if I drag everyone, it counts as “wandering”, right?) the Lego store. Now, I’ve not gotten any Lego sets for a while (at least over a year) but I still like to peruse and see what all is going on in the lands of Lego.
An audible gasp took me as I laid eyes on … A NEW LEGO PIRATES SET!
I grew up on the Lego Space line in my youth (mid 70′s) but it was the Lego Pirates line that drew me back in as an adult. From picking up a few set here and there to a near obsessive compulsion to hunt them down on eBay after the line ended I would say that at least 90 percent of my collection is made up of Pirates sets. Not to mention the small armies of red and blue coated soldiers to stand against my pirate armadas.
Well, now with the Pirate line launched again, new set and pieces are available along with the prices of the older sets coming down (hopefully).
Ok, I’m done Legogasming. Time to build!
Well, after I get back to cartooning that is.

Y’know… you can add to your armada and pirate hordes through BrickLink.com as well as find out all the info you could ever want re: old and new pirate sets through Peeron.com. I’m sure there’s a wealth of others, but those are the top two.
also: http://www.reasonablyclever.com. Trust me… you won’t be disappointed. We AFoLs need to stick together, yeah?

Oh yea, I was a BrickLink regular. GREAT site for buying parts. The expensive parts on the soldiers was the tall Shako hat. I found it cheaper to buy them as seperate parts (batch of white legs, batch of yellow heads, batch of red coats, etc.) that as the individual, assembled soldiers.

In your Heyday of the Pirates did you manage to get a hold of the Pirate set with the canons that actually fired the round bricks? I got a couple sets with these, before the “nerfed” them for fear kids would shoot each other in the eye or something.

The new set they are releasing have the firing cannons again.
