InkTank Studios Donations

"I Don't Want Your Rent Money ... I Just Want Your Latte' Money."

InkTank Studios is the seed of a dream. It is the kernel of a hope to one day make a full time living as a cartoonist. I've gone though the dress rehearsal in the past, now it's time for the main show. The big time. Do or die. To that end, I have set up this donation page for anyone wishing to contribute to the fulfillment of a dream. Or, just send a few bucks my way if I made you laugh.

I have a few donation options, from small, monthly recurring amounts to one time donations. All money goes towards InkTank Studios and not into my own personal bank account. These funds are used towards the operating expenses of the business (as detailed below) and any profit is rolled back into the business.

So where do your donations to InkTank Studios go?

Being an art central business, I have a good number of art supplies to buy. From things like pens and pencils to the ever important computer software and hardware that allows me to bring you electronic entertainment. In addition, I take great pride in the fact that all my software is legit and fully licensed. Yes, it can cost a good chunk of change sometimes but I feel that for as essential as these tools are for my work, it's only right to support the creators of my bread and butter.

It seems that real business do things like ... "promote" themselves. Imagine that. They have things like business cards, stationary, flyers and do things like direct marketing. Well if that's what real businesses do, then that's for me! Part of this includes cost effective measures like small print runs of convention specific items and keeping enough generic information on the stationary (email, contact number, etc.) that won't change so the printed materials can be used for as long as possible. No constant reprinting every time I move for this fella!

The bread and butter of most webcomic businesses is the merchandise. The goodies. The swag. You come for the free comic, but spend your money to buy graven images of your favorite characters. I hope to go the quality route and skip print on demand services like Cafepress and bring you the best mugs, t-shirts, posters and assorted goodies I can manage. This includes print editions (finally!) of my strips, including bound volumes of the Angst Technology run.

Seeing as how I will be exhibiting at conventions for the first time ever, there are certain expenses associated with being a convention exhibitor. Aside from shipping product to and from the convention hall, there is the registration of the table, travel expenses to the convention and more. Plus, who wants to sit at a plain old, bare-bones table? I hope to get some reusable booth decoration in the form of a banner to wrap around the front and some sort of stand up display. I'll likely start small, working my way up and down the West Coast to keep the travel expenses to a minimum.

And most importantly, a good portion of donations will go towards ...
