The final step for making the strip ready is to load it into PhotoShop (at about 450 pixels wide) and crop the image to get rid of the black outline. I then make sure the canvas size is 450 by 615 and do a quick fill of white around the outline to fill in any transparency.

Finally, I export the image as a GIF89a file. It is now ready for me to FTP it up to the server for all the world to see.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, with careful preparation and foresight, you can save yourself a lot of steps. I spend VERY little time in PhotoShop and even though I like to use Illustrator, I most likely wouldn’t be able to do this without Adobe Streamline. Getting the drawn image in is the key element in my process.

I really hope this has at least been a bit educational for you and perhaps you can use some of these tips in your cartooning endeavors.

Good luck!
